なぜ「過労死」が普通の言葉になっているのか
日本では長時間労働が当たり前とされ、倒れるまで働き、その後は上司や同僚との飲み会が「当然」とされる文化がある。これは本当に必要なことなのだろうか。
「過労死」という言葉が存在すること自体、この国がどれほど労働時間の異常さを正常化してきたかを物語っている。
このような環境で、若い世代が「子供を持ちたい」と思えるだろうか。仕事だけで人生が埋め尽くされる社会で、家庭を持つ余裕などあるはずがない。
少子化を嘆く前に、まず問うべきは——なぜ働きすぎて死ぬまで働かせることが違法ではないのか、ということではないだろうか。過労死につながるような長時間労働は、法律で明確に禁止されるべきだ。
